Charge Against Ex-Official Is Moved to Inactive Docket.

An assault charge against a former Prince George's County homeland security official who is serving a 45-year prison sentence for fatally shooting one man and wounding another was placed on an inactive docket this week.
Prosecutors agreed to the action Thursday in the assault case against Keith A. Washington, 46. If Washington, who is in state prison, is not charged with any other offenses during the next year, the assault charge will be dropped, officials said.
Washington, who also is a former county police officer, was convicted in the shootings of two furniture deliverymen at his Accokeek home in January 2007.
He had been scheduled to go on trial this month on a charge of pulling a handgun on a real estate appraiser who said he mistakenly knocked on Washington's door in April 2007.
