The Maryland Senate today rejected a bid to put a slot machine gambling parlor at Rosecroft Raceway in Prince George's County as the chamber weighed legislation to hold a public referendum on legalizing machines at five locations around the state.Earlier:
A proposed amendment by Sen. Allan H. Kittleman (R-Howard) would have moved a proposed site in Worcester County to Prince George's, a move he and other Republican lawmakers argued would generate more money for the state. The Senate voted 30-17 against the amendment, which was unanimously opposed by Prince George's lawmakers.
