Del. Joanne C. Benson (D-Prince George's) said opposition to slots among congregants at her church, First Baptist of Glenarden, is so strong that "I think I'd have to find another church home if I voted for slots."

"The slots stuff is not so straightforward," said Sen. Paul G. Pinsky (D-Prince George's). "Many people say their support depends on how many and where."

Sen. Douglas J.J. Peters (D-Prince George's) said he believes some legislators may use the session as a "bully pulpit." For example, Peters, a new member of the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee, said he may call for a committee to look at Internet taxes as a "future revenue source."
