Kicking the Taxpayers.
Post, 29 Oct 2007 (Letter from Judy Robinson)
Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley's special session, which could result in higher taxes, starts today. Mr. O'Malley (D) has asserted that new revenue is needed to address a huge budget shortfall.
Yet state Comptroller Peter Franchot believes there is enough revenue to build a soccer stadium for D.C. United ["Maryland Comes Courting in D.C. United's Stadium Search; State Comptroller Meets With Team Executives After Their Talks With Fenty Stall," Metro, Oct. 17].
Who is telling the truth?
If Maryland cannot provide basic services without new taxes, why would legislators consider yet another stadium giveaway to the wealthy on the backs of poor Marylanders?
