County inks deal on library.
Gazette, 11 Oct 2007 (Valentine). Ending months of silence that caused some to worry that the deal was falling through, county officials have signed a $1.4 million contract for a new south Bowie library at a Central Avenue shopping center and housing development.

According to a copy obtained by The Bowie Star, Prince George’s will pay developer Cenhall LLC about $15 a square foot for the space, about $2.4 million less than the developer demanded at first.
The price buys the county the largest space at the proposed Collington Station Marketplace — a new 14-acre shopping center and townhouse community being built between Hall Road and Central Avenue.
The county will be responsible for constructing the proposed $9 million building as Cenhall puts up 109 residential units, three other storefronts and an office building on the property.

The deal appears to resolve the longstanding effort by south Bowie residents to bring a library at the site in exchange for allowing commercial development of the land.
