Subject: Taking private property to give to developers
Thanks for the heads up. Please email this response to your listserv. Explain to me how giving the county the ability to get rid of liquor stores, strip clubs, environmentally dirty sites, and slumlord apartment building isn't a benefit for the citizens of Prince George's County. The bill calls for approval from the county council before this power is used, thus providing an opportunity for public input and recourse if people think the council has acted inappropriately. I am a supporter of smart growth and redevelopment, which often times needs public intervention. The other option is continue to develop our rural areas which, I believe, is a terrible solution. And by the way- it's Prince George's.
Respectfully,
Delegate Justin Ross
