Subject: Re: Art in Public Places at the abandoned Oxon Hill Library
I will work with members of the CPGCPTA Executive Board to contact the members of the PTA's, especially in South County to address this issue. In addition, I will also contact some of the leaders of Community/Civic Associations in the area and request that they join this effort.
I am aware that several of these groups have addressed this issue several times with our County government leaders with similar lack of responsiveness. I also agree that with the long delays, that it now requires a much larger and more focus effort.
In addition, to the Art Collection, Library and numerous child and community services in one of our largest and historically most used libraries, this library also houses the Sojourner Truth Room, one of the two largest African-American research collections in Maryland. Lack of access to this collection has created problems for folks of all ages (including my wife) not just in the county, but regionally.
Thanks in advance for the countywide advocacy.
