County officials claim no knowledge of federal investigation

"Feds probe County Council," by Anna Bailey, Journal, November 9, 2004.
"The FBI probe was stunning news to the County Council leadership, who was unaware of the on-going investigation. 'I have not been contacted by the FBI,' said Council Chairman Tony Knotts, D-Temple Hills. 'In fact, I don't even know what they look like.'"
"Knotts said he has asked every staff member and other council members and no one has been contacted by the FBI, nor have any FBI agents come to the office looking for documents."
"John Erzen, a spokesman for County Executive Jack B. Johnson, said the county executive's office has not been asked for documentseither."
