When he first ran for county executive, Rushern Baker promised that he would "never allow slots or any form of legalized gambling in Prince George's County."
At the same time, he promised to "push for mass-transit across the Wilson Bridge and link it to National Harbor."
We all know that he broke both of those promises. He fought to bring legalized gambling to the county. He has done nothing--not even lip service--to bring mass transit to the National Harbor area or across the bridge.
In his later campaign and speeches he has often claimed to be for "Transit Oriented Development."
Now that we know from the Post* that there will be no transit--not even bus service--to his casino at National Harbor, it is even more apparent than before that
Rushern Baker simply cannot be trusted. His promises mean nothing.
And it is indeed unfortunate that the media and his myriad supporters let him get away with it.
