County Council considers Karington change; South Bowie development seeks more townhouses, fewer apartments
Gazette, 14 Oct 2010 (Terhune).
Lansdowne Development Group of Herndon, Va., hopes to break ground next year on the first of a possible 1,300 housing units as part of the already approved Karington mixed-use project just south of Bowie.

Depending on when plans are approved, the first of the housing units could become available in 2012, said Lansdowne President and CEO Hobie Mitchel.

But before that happens, Mitchel and partner, Karington LLC, which owns the site, want the County Council to first approve a zoning amendment that would give Lansdowne Development the option of substituting for-sale units in place of rental apartments on the site that is also slated to eventually include office buildings and stores.
