Johnson Watch: Tuesday Edition.
Maryland Moment, 9 Dec 2008 (Helderman ).
Eight days after Prince George's Executive Jack B. Johnson (D) and at least three other county workers left for Africa, his top aides have still been unable to produce basic details about the trip, including any kind of itinerary or an indication of whether the county is paying for the trip, as it has with past such trade trips.
We now have some indication of when he will return however, a fact aides have not up to know been able to clarify: He should be back no later than Thursday, Dec. 18.
At least, that's what we gather from this invitation to the county's annual holiday party. It was distributed to county workers today and indicates refreshments will be served from 3 to 5:30 p.m. in Johnson's offices.
Adding to holiday cheer for the party--county workers have all been furloughed for two weeks this year to save money.
Johnson's spokesman James P. Keary has so far not returned messages today about the Africa trip. In interviews Thursday, Friday and Monday, he said he had no information to release about Johnson's trip and the executive would answer all questions when he returns.
