I had planned to comment on the smart-ass comment about killing dogs made by Sheriff Jackson's official spokesman (PIO/Community Affairs), Sgt. Mario Ellis. Trevor Bothwell of "Who's your nanny?" beat me to it with his 11 Aug posting, "War on
On August 8, the Post quoted Sgt. Ellis as saying ". . . the department had not been informed of the FBI's plans. 'If they deem it necessary to do that, we welcome it,' . . ." But, according to the Post the next day, his boss had a different opinion: "Jackson also expressed dismay at the civil rights review. "I've been here 19 years, and this agency has been in existence since 1696. The Office of the Sheriff of Prince George's County has never been under a civil rights review or no one has ever called for the Department of Justice to come in," he said. 'There is no reason, there has been no reason, and as long as I'm here there will not be a reason for it.'"
Even though the county web site has a page for news releases from the Office of the Sheriff, none have been posted since October 2007. This all makes me wonder if Sgt. Ellis is really in the loop.
