(Posted 14 Aug 2008)Who is Vernon R. Herron, Prince George's County Director of Public Safety and Director of Homeland Security?
What responsiblilty does Mr. Herron Have for the militarization of the county's police and sheriff's departments?
What role, if any, did Mr. Herron or his office play in the planning of the raid on Mayor Calvo's home?
How actively involved was Mr. Herron in the supervision of his deputy, killer-cop Keith Washington?
How effective has Mr. Herron been in the oversight of the county jail where Ronnie White died under mysterious circumstances and the corrections director was recently fired?
Several recent press reports have mentioned Mr. Herron. A few have quoted him about the invistigation of Ronnie White's death or about the retirement of police chief Melvin High. But I don't think there has been any critical or analytical review of Mr. Herron, or his role in managing public safety, or overall performance, or even the need for his job. I wonder why?
