New crime mapping resource

(Posted 27 Sep 2007)
Eric Leuliette has created a new crime mapping site at http://pgcrime.info. Apparently based on Google Maps, it has a user friendly interface and the promise of being kept up-to-date from multiple sources--unlike the user-unfriendly, rarely updated official county crime mapping site and other sites that claim but fail to provide current crime maps.

Eric's search interface allows the user to specify the whole county or a specific region, zip code, type of crime (homicide, sexual assault, assault, robbery, theft or burglary, or auto theft), and a date range.

The map interface is accompanied by a new crime blog. Eric also has more background and contact information on his "about" page, as well as link to other crime sites and county and municipal police departments.
