Domestic violence

(Posted 5 Oct 2006)
The Gazette is reporting today that county officials "were outraged when a national magazine focused on domestic violence in the county." Link

And the Gazette is also reporting today that "A Fort Washington man allegedly shot his girlfriend in their home and then turned the gun on himself in an apparent act of domestic violence, police said Tuesday." Link Other media sources report that the victim twice asked the courts for protection, and was refused both times Link, the second time by Judge Crystal D. Mittelstaedt. Link

I am also outraged!

Outraged that Jack Johnson and our courts have failed to protect the women of our county from being murdered or torched.

And even more outraged that they would complain about about such well-deserved criticism.

Jack Johnson's spokesman told the Gazette: ‘‘I work closely with Jack Johnson, and can tell you that he feels that all women, men, and children who are victims of domestic violence should feel that they have a place to go for protection and support and do not have to cry alone in the dark.”

Do you suppose the family of Jackie Lewis believes that? Or is comforted by it?
