Fwd: Support Delegate Rosetta Parker

(Posted 2 Jun 2006)
Note: Beginning June 2, for county (not statewide) races, I will post or link to any candidate press releases (or the equivalent) sent to me, and will begin keeping a calendar of upcoming campaign events. This does not imply any endorsement, as I will post information even from candidates I strongly oppose.

Subject: Support Delegate Rosetta Parker

Dear Friend:

I am writing to urge your support for Delegate Rosetta Parker (District 47) in the fupcoming Democratic primary. Delegate Parker was the creator and lead sponsor of legislation to restore the elected school board in Prince George's County with its members chosen by the voters of nine separate local districts. She has worked untiringly as our champion during the last three years to bring back voting rights to the people of our county.

Now Delegate Parker needs our support. Despite her courage, leadership, and willingness to challenge the political status quo, she will not be included on the “official” District 47 ticket. Unlike the other incumbent state legislators who campaigned with her in 2002, Delegate Parker will run independently, raising all her own funds and paying the full cost of voter outreach. She has organized a high-energy, citizen-centered campaign that will focus on assuring that voters have a voice in crafting solutions to issues important to citizens in District 47 and throughout Prince George's County.

You can help Delegate Parker by attending the Citizens for Rosetta Parker Fundraiser on June 22, 2006, 6:30-9:30 p.m., at the Coco Cabana Restaurant, 2031A University Boulevard near Riggs Road in Langley Park. Join other Rosetta Parker supporters for a great buffet, music, and conversation. For more information and to RSVP, call Olevia Ambrose (301/927-3161) or Loretta Burgess (301/277-6027).

YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A RESIDENT OF DISTRICT 47--OR EVEN A DEMOCRAT--TO ATTEND THE FUNDRAISER OR CONTRIBUTE TO DELEGATE PARKER’S CAMPAIGN. Contributions should be made payable to Citizens for Rosetta Parker, and mailed to Olevia Ambrose, Treasurer, 2005 Ingraham Street, Hyattsville, MD 20782. She has earned the support of all the people of Prince George’s county, regardless of residence or party affiliation.

I plan to volunteer time, energy and dollars to support Delegate Parker, and I hope you will, too. She worked for us in Annapolis. Let's work to re-elect her as a Delegate to the Maryland General Assembly.

Sincerely

Janis Hagey
