Prince George's Board of Education: A Letter to All Maryland Senators

(Posted 7 Apr 2006)
Dear Senator:

I have lived and voted in Prince George's County for over 40 years. I have never been as appalled by the behavior of my elected officials as I am now by the arrogant, disgusting plan of Prince George's County Senators to spit in the face of the voters and reward both their cromies and non-elected members of the expiring appointed school board which spent its life tolerating incompetence and corruption at the top, while failing to make any real improvements in educating our children.

I believe that democracy and education are far more important than Senatorial courtesy. For that reason,

  • I urge you, in the strongest terms, to oppose the Prince George's Senators' plan (SB 1094) to add any of the failed members of the current board, or any other appointed members, to the Prince Georges County Board of Education.

  • And I urge you, in equally strong terms, to support Senate passage, without amendment, of HB 1360, which passed the House with only one dissenting vote.
The people of Prince George's County deserve to elect their school leaders in fair, open, honest elections. HB 1360 supports that principle. Most Prince George's County Senators oppose it.

Vote against SB 1094!

Support HB 1360 without amendments!
