Subject: HB 1360 passes the House of Delegates. Melony Griffith (District 25) sole vote in opposition
Great News! HB 1360 passed the Maryland House of Delegates by a vote of 139 to 1. The sole vote against HB 1360 was Melony Griffith (District 25).

This Black, female legislator did not support the restoration of the right of the people in Prince George's County to elect school board members from nine-single districts as they had for more than 25 years prior to 2002. This is not only an act of disrespect and disdain for the community, but a reaffirmation of her preference to maintain the status quo - political allegiances, political arrogance - over accountability to her own constituents. She has obviously forgotten the historical struggles to obtain voting rights and our modern-day right to maintain them. Remember this vote in September, 2006.
[Note: More on Del. Griffith.]
