  • A Circuit Court judge in Prince George's County yesterday found a 16-year-old Landover boy involved in -- the juvenile court equivalent of guilty of -- involuntary manslaughter and second-degree assault in an attack Nov. 5 that took the life of an Upper Marlboro man.

The defendant, who was 15 at the time of the attack on Matthew Pickett, 21, was sent to a juvenile detention center until a March 9 hearing before Judge Melanie Shaw-Geter , a spokesman for the state's attorney's office said.

The judge could order the teenager detained in a juvenile facility until he is 21.

Pickett, a former student at Prince George's Community College who had enlisted in the Army, was attacked at the Boulevard at Capital Centre in Largo, police and prosecutors said.

He died of his injuries two days after the attack.
