Prince George's Porkers

(Posted 22 Feb 2006)
A month ago, Maryland Democrats were criticizing the governor's budget because it contained too much spending. For example, Sen. "Miller called him 'Budget Busting Bob' (Gazette, 25 Jan 2006), and said "the governor's budget 'is spending us into a fiscal morass if we allow it to take place'" (AP, wtopnews.com, 27 Jan 2006).

But our Republican governor is not the only big spender around. Prince George's County legislators--all Democrats, and including Sen. Miller--have gone hog-wild on pork spending, introducing bills totaling over $33 million for pork projects in just the first half of the legislative session.
