From: Martin O'Malley
Subject: Meet My Running Mate
I wanted you and the other members of Team O'Malley to be the first to know that last night I asked Delegate Anthony Brown to join my ticket as a candidate for Lieutenant Governor, and he accepted. A leader, a soldier, a man who understands commitment to family, and a tireless worker on behalf of all Maryland families, Anthony has all the qualities to be an excellent Lieutenant Governor for Maryland - a true partner in progress.

Be there when we formally announce our ticket.

Over dinner with our families last night, Anthony agreed to join our team. We talked about how our partnership must focus on bringing unity, competence, and progress back to our state government - in other words, leadership that works. I'm excited about our new partnership to make Maryland stronger.

I hope you will join us at our official announcement this coming Monday, December 12th, in Prince George's County, where people know Anthony and his record of strength and service best. Doors to the event open at 9:00 a.m., and all of Team O'Malley is invited.

Be there when we formally announce our ticket.

When I was considering this choice, I had three criteria: a person who is ready to assume the responsibilities of Governor, if needed; someone who shares my values and vision for our state; and someone with whom I could work closely as a partner to move our state forward. Anthony Brown is a tested leader - as Majority Whip and a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army. We share the same dreams for the people of our state. And among many outstanding public servants, he was the clear choice.

Be there when we formally announce our ticket.

Anthony has an impressive background and a record of outstanding achievement. He is currently Majority Whip of the House of Delegates and represents District 25 in Prince George's County. Anthony recently finished a tour of duty in Iraq with the U.S. Army. He has been a statewide leader on higher education affordability and public safety. A graduate of Harvard University and Harvard Law School, Anthony and his wife, Patricia, have two wonderful children, Rebecca and Jonathan.

I look forward to seeing you and the rest of Team O'Malley at our announcement on Monday. I cannot wait to officially welcome the newest member of our team and a leader who knows that a stronger Maryland can do better.

Sincerely,
Martin O'Malley

  1. O'Malley's Lt. Gov. Pick Sends A Message (Washington Post)

    What a combination!

O'Malley currently runs the Maryland jurisdiction with the highest murder rate and the worst schools--and neither has improved on his watch.

Brown is from the jursidaction with the second worst murder rate, the second worst schools, and more car thefts and carjackings that the rest of the state combined.

Are we supposed to believe that candidates with records like this--people who can't successfully govern run a small part of the state--will somehow magically do a better job governing the whole state? If you believe that, I can make you a real deal on a bridge to . . .
