"Class schedule for future school board"
Gazette, December 15, 2005 (Editorial)
A training session for would-be school board members sounds ridiculous until you ponder the recent history of the Prince George’s County School Board.
[. . .]
There will be various speakers at the event, all working to train would-be candidates on all that school board members should know. The No Child Left Behind Act, Maryland School Assessments, High School Assessments and other educational policy issues are among the topics attendees will learn.
[. . .]
There is only one problem. School board chaos seems to have come not from a lack of knowledge, but from a lack of ethics.
[. . .]
Kudos to the Citizens for an Elected Board for its effort to educate and weed out those considering a run for the Prince George’s County School Board.
[. . .]
It’s a good start. Maybe second semester can focus on Ethics 101.
