Why Gas Costs So Much in Md.

That is the subject of a letter to the editor published in the May 1, 2005, Washington Post. The author, Thomas A. Firey, asserts that Maryland gasoline prices are kept artificially high as a result of legislation aimed at restricting price competition that was passed in 2001 by the Maryland General Assembly.   1. This does not surprise me in the least, seeing something that the "D's" did blow up in our collective faces. I've been here 6 months and I see how things go - we do have SOME sanity on the Eastern Shore but that's lacking at times as well.

    Maybe that's why Ocean City needs to advertise more on a local basis, people aren't into driving for 2 days to get to a vacation now.
