"Are they really doing this? This is a really bad idea," said Mel Franklin, the presumptive District 9 county councilman, who is unopposed in the general election.

Statement by JoAnn Fisher, candidate for Judge of the Orphans Court

Hello, my name is JoAnn Y. Fisher and I would like to be your next Judge of the Orphans Court.

The first question that comes to mind is why do I want such a delicate position? Presently I am working towards my Doctorate with a minor in Early Childhood education. I presently hold a Master of Science in Management and a Bachelor of Art in Applied Behavioral Science.

This Court hears all matters involving the decedent's estate which are contested. This office also supervises all estates which are probated judicially. The Court approves accounts and awards personal representative's commissions and attorney's fees, when applicable. The Court also has concurrent jurisdiction with the Circuit Court in the guardianship of minor children and their property. All matters involving the validity of wills and the transfer of property in which legal questions and disputes occur are resolved by the Orphans' Court.

With my current experience in childhood development and management, I will quickly be able to assess and work to assist children who have lost a loved one . . . who they have grown to depend on for their daily care and needs. I will make sure that their further needs are well managed with a compassionate hand to reach out to in their time of need.

This position requires a loving and caring individual who can see the need of the child for their further development throughout their childhood life, and to bring them to a positive normal adult life as a productive individual(s).

Don't entrust the lives of your minor children to just any judge who will not consider the direct and immediate need of your most precious asset, your child.

So I stand before you today to say, I will take time to assure that this office will take special care in the planning and the appointment of your assets for your minor child or children. Proper planning will also help to avoid unnecessary and expensive legal fees.

Vote for me on November 2, 2010, and I promise to handle your most precious asset with loving and compassionate caring hands. For more information please contact JoAnn Fisher at (240) 305-5516 or Email: jyf20745@yahoo.com

      Thank you for your VOTE!
      Caring and Compassion for Guardianship
